The Gutenberg WordPress editor is a new page builder that is being designed to integrate with WordPress core. … When in use, it will replace TinyMCE as the default content editor. With Gutenberg, content is added in blocks of various types from the WordPress backend. Gutenberg is was released with WordPress 5.0.
With the new Gutenberg Editor, WordPress has made major changes to the way that users use and update content. Rather than add everything into a body field, users add “blocks” – which are pieces of content that make up the complete web page. Some example blocks are images, videos, titles, embeds, paragraphs, etc. The Gutenberg Editor allows the user to move things around and configure the blocks in different ways. These blocks are also displayed more like they would be shown on the live version of the site.
